About Mentoring

Use your training to mentor youth providing priceless rewards to both you and a student. This innovative approach to mentoring provides a whole new reason to run, by having a direct impact on the life of a student.

  • Mentored young people are 46% less likely to get involved with drugs. (Source: Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America)
  • 59% improve their grades. (Source: Career Beginnings)
  • 86% went on to higher education. (Source: Proctor & Gamble)

Who are our mentors?

Our mentors are caring adults that volunteer their time to help Chicago students succeed.  No previous running experience is required; however every mentor is committed to put the needs of their student first.

  • Our mentors come from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds
  • Over 80% mentors from last year have returned, additional mentors have been added for the 2009 season to accommodate the expansion to nine schools.
  • Several of our mentors are former Team M3 Student Runners who have graduated from Foreman High School and have returned to support their younger peers.
  • Several mentors are also teachers of Team M3 Student Runners.
