The MGR Foundation seeks to bring the Team M3~Chicago Student MentorRun to all Chicago Public High Schools that could benefit from such a program.  Students who participate in such programs have greater graduation rates then their peers, are more likely to see improvements in attendance and grades, have less gang affiliation and see increases in confidence and self-esteem. Our student surveys show these students feel more able to meet the challenges within the classroom.

Please contact Cathy Braund, Team M3~Chicago Student MentorRun program director at cathy@mgrf.org or 773.313.0075 to discuss partnering with your school.

In each partner school, the MGR Foundation supplies:

  • Training program led by RRCA certified coach including clinics on proper form, nutrition, hydration, stretching, races and other related topics.
  • Adult mentors to support student runners in their weekly trainings.
  • Race entries for students completing training for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Chicago Half Marathon and the Bank of America Chicago Marathon.
  • Team gear including shirts, shoes and shorts to participating students.
  • Food and nutrition to support training runs.
  • Administrative support to implement a successful program.

The partner school in turn provides:

  • Approval by the school administration for program implementation.
  • A lead contact - parent, teacher or administrator from the school who will attend all practices and races and be in contact with school administrators.
  • A stipend as compensation for participation of the lead contact.
  • Access to space for weekly trainings at or around the school site.
  • Opportunities to recruit students and speak to parents about the Team M3 Chicago Student MentorRun program.
  • Opportunities to celebrate the student’s achievements, such as allowing the students to wear their medals to school the day after the marathon.
